Frequently Asked Questions

All you need to know...

We have spent a great deal of time over the years updating and adding new information to our extensive FAQ. It features dozens of answers to frequently asked questions which new clients and existing clients may have in regards to dog walking, overnight sitting and a variety of other important issues. So go ahead and take a moment of your time to browse around the sub-categories below in order to narrow down the FAQ items according to your topic of interest and we are sure you will be able to find exactly what you are looking for!

Is the initial consultation free?

The initial consultation also commonly known as the “meet and greet” visit is 100% free for all clients who pre-pay/book services with 919 Dog within the first week of the consultation. There will be a $55 consultation fee charged to your card on file if services are not setup with 919 Dog after 10 days of the initial “meet and greet” visit.

Should you decide to go with another dog walking service provider other than 919 Dog, for any reason after meeting with one of our coordinator’s of services in-your-home, you will be billed $55 to cover our expenses.

If you do change your mind, and decide to come back to 919 Dog for dog walking services within a period of 10 days, the previously billed $55 meet and greet fee will be credited towards the required security deposit.

Why is a deposit required?

All dog walking clients of 919 Dog place $150 as a deposit. This is required for all new clients in order for us to keep your requested time-slot reserved within our weekly schedule. We also keep this money in cases of emergency services being required on last notice or if/when your regular debit card or credit card on-file is declined (it happens to all of us! card expires, lost/stolen, etc) in order to avoid disruption in services to your dog.

As a new client, upon execution of your contract/service agreement with 919 Dog you will be charged the $150 security deposit which will then be placed aside in our bank’s escrow account. The amount in full must be deposited with 919 Dog before services can begin.

Upon termination of services to your dog, you will be returned the full security deposit in the form of a direct deposit to your bank account, check or electronically via paypal.com. Whichever method works best for you, that’s how we will disburse the deposit right back to you.

Are there any discount plans/packages?

Yes. If you would like to pre-pay for your dog walking services in advance for 1 month, 3 months or 6 months you can benefit from a 10% to 20% savings off your monthly service bill. Please contact your coordinator of services to make such arrangements and your savings will kick in on your next due bill.

When is payment due for overnight sitting?

Payment for overnight dog sitting services is due in full during the initial meet and greet consultation for new clients. All of the day(s) and night(s) being reserved by existing clients must be paid in full as well, the same day when the reservations are being made and to go into effect.

Our overnight sitting payment structure is comparable to that of the hotel industry. All clients are encouraged to book as far in advance as possible to lock in their requested dates, and guarantee services, since our overnight sitting availability is limited — especially during weekends and major holidays.

When are payments for dog walking services due?

We bill your debit card/credit card on-file automatically at the end of each service week. For example, if your dog was walked once per day for 30 minutes on Monday – Friday (January 1 – January 5) then you will see a charge on your card on the following Monday (January 7) for $100 ($20 x 5). Our work-week starts on Monday and ends on Sunday.

Clients who wish to enroll in a monthly pre-pay plan for all their services can benefit from a 10% discount. Please contact your coordinator of services to make such arrangements.

What are the payment options?

We accept debit cards and credit cards issued by MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. Your payments are processed securely by Intuit.com on a weekly basis. Intuit is a leader in small business solutions, their flagship products/services include QuickBooks, Quicken and TurboTax.

If you would prefer to pre-pay manually by cash or check, contact your coordinator of services to make such arrangements in advance.

What is the cancellation policy?

We don’t penalize our clients for cancellations if we are notified in advance. We require at least a 12 hours notice on Monday – Friday and 24 hours on Saturday/Sunday of cancellations to scheduled services or you will be charged a $20 fee.

Employment opportunities

At 919 Dog we’re always looking to hire individuals who love working with dogs. Experience is a must-have! If you are interested in joining our team as a dog walker, then we definitely would love to hear from you. Please note you must be at least 21 years old to apply.

We even take care of horses and a variety of other farm animals. Please inquire for special pricing and more detailed information if you have additional pets who will need pet care/sitting.

The more advance notice you can give us, the better. Usually we can accommodate all service requests that we receive within a couple of business days. Ultimately it depends on a number of variables since every dog’s needs are unique and no two pets are the same. All of this should be discussed with your coordinator of services directly if you are an existing client.

Yes. The contract states permission to enter your to home to care for your dog(s) and that you agree to our company policies and procedures.

How much do additional consultations cost?

The initial meet and greet consultation is 100% free for all clients who enroll in dog walking services. All subsequent meetings and consultations when required will be billed at a fixed fee of $55/each which covers up-to 60 minutes of time.

For example: If and when you move to a new home or have a new pet addition to your family you will be required to schedule an additional/secondary meet and greet consultation for us to get re-acquainted with everything around your new place, update all of your contracts/service agreements and general information in our system to make sure everything is 100% up-to-date and in order so there aren’t interruptions to your daily dog walking services.

In such cases, the $55 assessed consultation fee is mandatory and will cover the newly incurred travel and administrative expenses of your coordinator of services as well as assigned dog walker.

The fee will be charged to your debit/credit card on-file once your meeting is scheduled, and will cover up-to one full hour of an in-person secondary meet and greet/consultation for all existing clients. Consultations exceeding the hourly allotted time will be billed $25 for each additional 30 minutes.

How to track/monitor/verify services and activity?

You will be able to monitor and verify dog walking activity in real-time via Glympse. We have partnered with Glympse.com to provide clients the ability to track when your dog walker/sitter is with your pet at home, park, etc.

Glympse is a groundbreaking location sharing tool which all of our team members utilize on their smartphones. What if the regular dog walker/sitter has an emergency and can’t come care for my pet?

We will send a replacement as soon as we are made aware of their emergency. Your dog will receive the normal care and services according to their daily schedule/routine. You will be notified of the changes.

What if I have an emergency outside of your regular business hours/my normal schedule of services and need help at the last minute?

We will try our absolute best to accommodate last minute requests for dog walking or overnight sitting. But, of course, we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to provide you with the services required.

How will your pet care providers discipline my pet, if necessary?

Our goal is to keep you fully informed with regards to the time we spend with your pet. If we encounter obedience issues that we think should be addressed, we will discuss them with you immediately and find out how you’d like us to handle them as far as disciplinary actions go in the future.

How will I know how my pets are doing when I’m away from home?

Our pet sitters communicate directly with clients by e-mail, or they can call/leave you voicemail updates if requested.

What if my property is damaged or pet is injured?

Our company is only liable for damage from negligence or willful misconduct by one of our dog walkers or overnight sitters. Due to the unpredictability of animals, we cannot accept responsibility for uncontrollable mishaps (such as bites or furniture damage).

Who are the dog walkers/sitters who will be coming into my home to care for my pet?

Only the best, most passionate, 100% reliable animal lovers will be caring for your dog. After a careful screening process, we put each future team member of 919 Dog through an extensive background check and training program.

My dog has been aggressive in the past. Can I still be a client?

This really depends on your dog. If your dog walker or sitter gets along well with your pet and can control him during walks, then we see no reason why we can’t continue to work with you. However, if there is an immediate danger of physical harm to the sitter/walker or another person or animal, then unfortunately we won’t be able to care for your dog.

Are you trained in Pet Care, CPR & First Aid?

Yes! We are trained and certified in Pet First Aid, Care & CPR by the Red Cross and/or PetTech. Our team members master the skills they need to provide the best possible care of your loved one’s health and safety in all situations.

What do you do in case of an emergency?

During the initial consultation/meet and greet, we will discuss the preferences you have for your home and pet. If an emergency occurs with your pet we would like for you to instruct us on how to handle the situation before making a trip to the Vet. Emergency contact information and specific instructions will be collected before dog walking or in-home sitting services begin. We keep this information on-file and it is available to all dog walkers and pet-sitters on-demand.

I have more than one dog.. Is there going to be extra fees?

Why is it necessary to set up a meet and greet before you begin caring for my dog?

What is involved during the initial consultation?

The initial meet and greet is very important, as it gives the opportunity for the entire family including pet(s) and 919 Dog to get to know one another. It is important for 919 Dog to learn as much as possible about your pet(s) in order for us to make the best recommendation about meeting your pet’s needs.
